Lecturer at UPNVY Develops Tourism Potential at Bantul, DIY

A number of lecturers from the Universitas Pembangunan Nasional UPN Veteran Yogyakarta (UPNVY) are supporting the development of tourism in Srimartani Village, Piyungan Subdistrict, Bantul.

The support, given as part of community service activities, was carried out through training and mentoring conducted on Sunday (3/11/2019). Some lecturers from UPNVY involved in the activities include Hastho Joko Nur Utomo, Eny Endah Pujiastuti, and Heru Cahya Rustamaji.

Eny Endah Pujiastuti explained that the training on the management of tourism potential in Srimartani Village took place for a full day from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The training aimed to provide insights and a space for discussion regarding plans to develop Srimartani Village as one of the tourist destinations. “There are many tourism potentials that can be developed in this village. We provide training related to management and marketing strategies,” she said in a press release received by Harianjogja.com on Tuesday (5/11/2019).

Heru Cahya Rustamaji added that in the current technological era, tourism marketing should be directed towards digital platforms. This way, various tourism potentials in Srimartani can be known by the wider community. He hoped that visitors from outside the region would become curious and come to visit. At least 30 individuals involved in the management of Srimartani Village’s tourism attended the event. “We provided tips and techniques for promoting tourism through the Internet to residents and managers. As part of the activities, we also conducted a study visit to Pring Ledok Tinjon, a culinary tourism destination located under bamboo trees and by the river,” he said.

The Head of Srimartani Village, Mulyana, welcomed the activities and provided input regarding village regulations (perdes) related to the use of village funds and issues concerning the village’s tourism. In addition, the determination of tourist attraction locations was synchronized with the Bappeda master plan. “There are many tourism potentials in Srimartani Village that can be utilized for village tourism,” he said.
